I have a laptop computer that was bought in Portugal. However, I want to
change the style of the Axis to the 'American' stytle versus the 'European'
style.

For example, in America, if you determine the result for the fraction 1/10
you would write 0.10 as the result. However, in Portugal, you would write
0,10.

I can't seem to find the option to switch between the two system. Under
'Format Axis' I can't switch between the two and I can't seem to create the
American way of showing the axis.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Set this at the OS level. Assuming this is a Windows machine, change the
'Regional and Language Options' from the 'Control Panel'.

If you want to leave everything else in the European settings, go to Excel's
Tools - Options - International property page, clear the "Use system
separators", and change the decimal and thousands separators.

If you want all applications to work in US mode, go to Regional and Language
settings in the control panel and change your language to English (US) or
customize the settings for your chosen language.

Thanks for that. Didn't know XL supported a way of not using the system
seperators.

I see this is a very old post, but essentially is have the same problem, only
the solution isn't working. I'm having no problems in the main excel window.
A dot is the decimal and I can enter numbers bij only using the numpad.
However, when trying to edit axis-settings the values can only be entered
with a comma as separator, even though I have my system settings on american
as wel as specific excel settings stating that the decimal indicator should
be a dot.

Anyone else encountered this? Any solutions or workarounds out there?
By the way, this occurs in excel 2007
