Hi,

A column of 16 is the expected result of a stacked column. The 10
stacked on top of the 6.

What you need is to use the clustered column chart and set the Overlap
value to 100. This will place the columns infront, rather than on top,
of each other.

Double click a column series and on the Series Options tab of the format
dialog set Overlap=100

Cheers
Andy

Default stacked chart

Hey Andy,

Thanks a lot. I was breaking my head
one more thing. I find a lot of space to the right of my plot area. but when
I use the handle. The plot area, chart area all shrink and the month labels
also go vertical.
Is there a way to shrink only a part of the chart area.
Thanks again for this expertise

I don't understand what you mean by 'part of the chart area'.

You can move and size the plot area within the chart area.
Try unchecking AutoSize on the Font tab of the chart area.

But the layout of the axis labels is related, without much control, to
the ratio of between chart area and plot area. And sizing and layout
can/is a frustrating task with long or many labels.

Cheers
Andy
