Default Vertical lines in Excel Chart

I want to draw straight verticle lines from the X axis. Autoshape allows
verticala lines, however, they are only as straight as one can do with the
mouse. Old dos based Quatro Pro provided the means to accomplish this,
however, I have not found a way in Excel 2003. Help.

If you have a XY Scatter chart, plot the series
=SERIES(,{x-val,x-val},{0,max-y-val}.{series number})

I have a line graph with dates along the "x" axis. I would llike to draw the
vertical lines for specific dates. I am not sure that the suggestion below
will do the job.
