I would like to change the default colors fot the lines and background in
Excel charts. The default background is gray and wastes toner and the yellow default color for series 2 data is difficult to see on a white backgound. Anyone know where these are stored or how to change these settings? I know how to change the colors, but don't want to have to do this every time I chart. Thanks |

Hi,
Jon has information on creating custom types. You can also update the Default chart type. http://peltiertech.com/Excel/ChartsH...stomTypes.html Cheers Andy -- Andy Pope, Microsoft MVP - Excel http://www.andypope.info "Larry Smith" <Larry wrote in message ... Another way is to customise the palette. Look at Tools / Options / Color.
As you mention yellow I guess you typically create line type charts, yellow is 'automatically' applied to the third line type series. Or rather, the colour in the 3rd column of the 7th row is applied, which in a default palette is yellow. Customize that yellow (not the identical yellow in the 4th row) and any others in the bottom row of the palette. Also customize the light grey in the 8th column of the 4th row in the palette. A customized palette is stored with the workbook. You could save a template with your customized palette. Either use the template as is or use it to copy a palette into your new workbook (same dialog as mentioned above). Regards, Peter T "Larry Smith" <Larry wrote in message ...
