Default Date format on axis in Excel 2007

I have Excel 2007 and my coworkers have Excel 2003. When they send me files
with charts, the date format in Excel 2007 is shown as numbers. Anyone
that has 2003 can see the correct format. I've checked the axis properties
on the version I see in 2007 and it says that it's formatted as a date.
What do I need to change in my settings to ensure the data is displaying
correctly?
