Hi,

I'm looking to create a column chart which will have a multi level category
(2 categories). I'd like to output this chart so that the major gridlines
split the columns where the second of the two categories chages. E.g. i may
have a category for yearly quarters and below this one for semesters. I would
in the case want lines going vertically through the chart where the semester
chages. Is this possible in Excel 2007, if so could someone please shed some
light on how to do this.

You can only get standard gridlines at categories or between categories, but
not where you may want them.

If you're a bit daring, you can put gridlines wherever you want:

The simplest thing is to use an additional data series and create your own
gridlines.

Hi Andy, this looks as though it may be of help. I would however like my
lines vertical where the second X axis category changes. How do i go about
adding this data to a table to allow a line to be drawn withing each semester.
