Default multiple workbooks in window

Please help -- I'm going crazy. I have the complete opposite problem of most
of the similar questions here.

IT has given me a new computer with a new install of XL03. Previously on my
old system, my default XL operation when opening a new workbook was that it
would open in its OWN window in the application window, as would all
subsequent files opened . . . meaning, I guess that they all opened
automatically tiled or cascaded or whatever, but they were all in the single
application window.

Now when I open a new file, it opens as before (detached window w/ its own
commands). BUT, if I then open another file, the 2nd takes over the app
window and gives me the lower minimize/restore/maximize worksheet commands,
below the ones for the app in the title bar. If I close the 2nd, I get back
to my moveable/tileable 1st file.

I've tried changing every possible setting and saving all configs, but
nothing is working. Please note -- I DO NOT want a separate XL window for
each file álÃ* Word like everyone else -- I want all my workbook windows
*detached* within in the single application window. For the life of me I
can't figure out what I had in the settings in my old system that created
this behavior

I have the same problem and it's driving me nuts. In fact I can't copy a
worksheet from one file to another because of this. Hopefully someone will
answer this. And hopefully this isn't the new behavior that we cannot change.
