Default Excel calendar - how do I format the date I a cell ?

Novice here - how do I format an excel calendar to put the date in each box,
set location, color, etc. ?

If you put your start date in a cell - for example 1/1/2005 in A1, then in B1
simply put =A1+1 and copy across or
