Default excel locked by another user=myself

this is for excel 2000
excel crashed while doing some vba code testing
now when re-opening the sheet where crash occurred i get the file is already
open by myself,
read-only, notify msg
is there some way to reset the file lock pointers/file in use/etc without
rebooting?
took a quick look in registry but nothing jumped out at me

Find your Temp Directories -- c:\windows\temp c:\Documents and
Settings\<user\Local Settings\Temp
Delete all files & folders in those directories
Restart Excel
Open file

You may need to reboot if you still cant get in if all files could not be
deleted

thanks for the reply, its kind of daunting in the
Documents and Settings\<user\Local Settings\Temp
area with so much in there, with other apps open, i'm afraid of botching up
some other open app
will shut down all apps before next reboot, then delete everything there and
then after reboot and open excel
and see what shows up

Unless you are in the habit of installing programs to run from TEMP, you will be
fine deleting it all. You can always move it to the recycle bin for a couple of
days if you want before totally deleting
