Default 25 charater product key is incorrect

I purchased a compact computer with windows vista from Walmart last year.

No CD's or user guide came with the computer. I have entered the product
key located on the side of my hardrive, but I'm recieving the message:
Poduct Key is incorrect.

I tried contacting HP support number recieved with the computer, thier
message read: DO NOT RETURN YOUR DESKTOP PC TO YOUR RETAILER. As our valued
customer, we want to make sure that your support needs are met and any issues
are resolved as quickly as possible.

Well my issue wasn't resolved and I became upset because they directed me to
go to Walmart and see why my product key doesn't work. I'm not going back to
Walmart its been over a year, I just currently received internet access and
was hoping to recieve some positive assistance with my issue.

Please keep in mind, I'm not very computer knowledgeable......but I'll try
my best!

Thank you so much for your time!
