Default Locked Text box

You'll need to unprotect the sheet to make this change and after this is
done, put it back into protected state.

Select the textbox, right click along the edge so you get the option to
[Format Textbox...] showing in a list. Click that and go to the Properties
tab in the dialog and clear the appropriate checkboxes. Close dialog, put
sheet back into protected state.

I tried the suggestion to right click on the text box border, but I don't see
"properties" in the dialogue box. I'm using WORD 2003. Thanks!

If you're using Word 2003, then maybe asking in a Word newsgroup would give you
better responses.
