Default How can i restore the toolbar[file_edit..]?

Somehow the "File" and "Edit" menus on the Menu Bar have been removed.

i.e. on the main menu bar, after "EXCEL", you see: "View Insert
Format Tools Data Window Help"

I know how to customize "Tool Bars" by dragging commands to them, but I
have not been able to drag "File" or "Edit" the the top menu bar.

I'm using Excel X for Mac on OS X 10.4.8

Thanks, Jim

If it were for windows, I'd try:

Tools|customize
select worksheet menu bar
and click Reset

This resets the whole toolbar--any customized changes will have to be redone.
