Default OFFICE STANDARD EDITION

Tried to download a trial for Excell, when i went to open as the instructions
say, I got this message: C:\documents and settings\owner\desktop\Office
STD.exe is not a valid WIN32 application. I am not computer literate, so can
someone please help. I am running Microsoft XP home
