Default calculating time

Hello,
I am totally new to excel and I've been handed an availabilities
spreadsheet to maintain. Can someone help me figure out how to write a
formula that will give me the total minutes per month for the years
2003/2004 and 2005. This is the
information I received -----** The total number of minutes in month
(28, 29, 30, or 31 days *1440 min/day) minus the sum of planned
downtimes------ and also this formula which doesn't
work------=(EOMONTH(A37,0)-A37+1)*1440-------- with the explanation
that AXXis the column representing the month-year.
Keep in mind that I have NEVER worked in excel before.
Any information will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,

Bizyb
