Default Entering and adding time

Hi

I am formatting the cell via custom and using hh:mm. When I enter a
time e.g. 45:22 it is giving me 21:12. What am I doing wrong.

Hi FODGym

Use the format [h]:mm, excel does not allow a time to exceed 24 hours
so once you go above 24 hours it goes back to counting from 1

hi,
by xl's logic, there can't be more than 24 hr in a day. when you enter
something greater than 23:59 xl is subtracting 1 day(24 hr) and by your
format displaying the balance.
45:22 minus 24 = 1 day 21 hr and 22 sec
look at your formula bar when you enter times.
what to do? not sure. i don't think that xl has a time format that will
allow you to enter more than 24 hr. (at least up to xl2k) you may have to
enter it as text.
Anyone else have a suggestion?
