grayed out, same w/ the 'customize toolbar' dropdown option off the QAT.

it's a work computer, could there be something to do w/ permissions?

Hi,

I suppose that IT could have blocked your from customizing the QAT. For
that I can be no help. But when you come into the Customize tab are any
options available? If so try opening the drop-down Customze Quick Access
Toolbar and change to the current workbook, from For all documents (default),
see if any options are available.

Of course you could ask IT if they have blocked customization.
