Default lost gridlines

Why do I lose my gridlines when I apply background color to a block of
rows? And why do I not get them back when I change the color back to the
usual white Background.
Is there a options setting I can use to prevent this action?
Thanks for the info

The colour covers the gridlines and so you 'lose' them. White is also a
backgroud colour so you also 'lose' them when you apply a white background -
use 'No Fill' instead.

To add to Sandy's answer: If you want 'gridlines' after using a fill you
will need to add borders to the cells
best wishes
