Default Date format in Excel

Hi,

I would like to be able to enter a date in the following format:
10/19/07
and have it show up in the column as:
Friday, Oct 19 or Friday, Oct 19, 2007. Important part is getting the
appropriate day of the week in there.

Is this possible?
