Now that john has told me what to do and it has worked for me and saved so
much time, please forgive me but i have 2 questions if nobody minds ? 1. I have some gaps. ie; 149 08 100 150 151 08 101 152 08 102 and so on. How do i move 08 101 and the rest of 'A' column up please without wrecking the work i have done ?(08 101 into the gap of 150) Belive me i am thick as 2 short planks where PC's are concerned. 2. Now, i have put numbers in column 'B' ie; 3001 3002 3003 and so on. Now, without wiping the numbers, how do i put D in front of all of them please ? ie; D3001 D3002 D3003 and before you all ask, yes i did check the help thing and a paperclip with eyes popped up. when i asked it a question, the answer was way above me ! in fact, that paperclip thing was as much use as a chocolate teapot ! Any help will be ever so much appreciated belive you me. Thank you once again |

Select the cells for the gap into which you want to move things up. Right click/ Delete .../ Shift cells up. 2. Now, i have put numbers in column 'B' ie; 3001 3002 3003 and so on. Now, without wiping the numbers, how do i put D in front of all of them please ? ie; D3001 D3002 D3003 In another column type the formula ="D"&B1 and copy down. If you want to replace the original data you can select your new cells, Copy, Select your original data, Edit/ Paste Special/ Values, then you can delete the new cells. -- David Biddulph |

You've replied to your own post, not to Gord's. Reply to Gord's message,

I assumed your numbers in Column B started at B1.
The formula ="D" & B1 is to entered in C1 and copied down column C. Gord On Mon, 1 Oct 2007 08:22:00 -0700, KODIAK BEAR wrote: Good afternnon Gord. Thank you for your help.
