In a spreadsheet I'm creating sheets for each month with rows of data below.
Each day and month is listed in a row at the top of each monthly sheet with the day and 3-letter month abbreviation, like "14 Apr" and 22 Oct." I have formatted these cells to display 90 degrees vertically, and I have formatted these cells as "text." However, when I perform a find and replace to change only the 3-letter month abbreviation in new sheets, I get a series of 5 numbers in each cell instead of the global change I want. I think I'm doing the find and replace correctly, so what am I missing? What am I doing incorrectly? Thanks. --Arthur |

Excel has helpfully changed the formatting to General.
Re-format to Date. For more on the 5-digit numbers, which is how Excel keeps track of dates, see Chip Pearson's site. http://www.cpearson.com/excel/datetime.htm#SerialDates Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Sat, 13 Jan 2007 10:41:15 -0500, "Nospam" wrote: In a spreadsheet I'm creating sheets for each month with rows of data below.
