Automatic/Manual Calculation
Using Excel 2002, I am set to Automatic calculation. One, and only one file
always indicates it requires Manual calculation. I am sure it is something within the file, but am not sure what to look for. Can someone give me some guidance on what steps to take to correct the problem. Thanks, as always. Paul |

Automatic/Manual Calculation
open the file, turn calculation to automatic, save the file.

Automatic/Manual Calculation
ToolsOptionsCalculation can be Auto or Manual.
Excel takes the Calculation mode each session from the settings on the first workbook opened in that session. i.e. If you saved Book1 with calc mode in manual and opened it first, calc mode would be in Manual. If you saved Book2 with calc mode in auto and opened it after Book1, Book2 would be in manual mode(Excel ignores the auto calc mode in this case). If you close Book1 before opening Book2, Book2 will be in auto calc mode. Confusing enough? <g Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Thu, 7 Sep 2006 09:38:02 -0700, PA wrote: Using Excel 2002, I am set to Automatic calculation. Automatic/Manual Calculation
Paul,
If you have more that, IIRC, 65536 formulas, Excel will always show "Calculate" on the status bar.... HTH, Bernie MS Excel MVP "PA" wrote in message ... Automatic/Manual Calculation
Bernie
Therein lies the problem. Not only does the file contain thousands of formulas, but is linked to two others with huge numbers of formulas. Thank you for the insight.
