XL2003 and tab colours
I have started using XL2003 after some years' experience with earlier
versions. On the latest version the background colour of the worksheet tabs is white in the case of selected (or grouped) sheets, but very very very light grey in the case of unselected sheets. This makes it hard to see which worksheets are selected or included in the group. Is there a way to customise this, please? |

Is this any better? oldchippy :) -- oldchippy ------------------------------------------------------------------------ oldchippy's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=19907 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=571046 |

Select all sheets and right-click on a tab and "color tabs". Choose a darker gray or any color you wish to give more contrast with the Grouped sheets which will still show up as white". You could create a Template named Book.xlt with the sheet tabs color as you wish. This would not affect existing workbooks. Thanks Gord - and oldchippy - I never think of right clicking. How do I set
the default colours for a new workbook (or for new worksheets inserted into a workbook)? "Gord Dibben" <gorddibbATshawDOTca wrote in message ... Open a new workbook. Customize your sheet tabs as you wish. FileSave As Type: scroll down to Excel Template(*.XLT) and select. Name your workbook "BOOK"(no quotes). Excel will add the .XLT to save as BOOK.XLT. Store this workbook in the XLSTART folder usually located at........ C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART This will be the default workbook for FileNew or the Toolbar button FileNew Do not use FileNew...Blank Workbook or you will get the Excel default workbook. Existing workbooks are not affected by these settings. You can also open a new workbook and delete all but one sheet. Customize as you wish then save this as SHEET.XLT in XLSTART folder also. It now becomes the default InsertSheet. More can be found on this in Help under "templates"(no quotes).
