I am unable to have a link to a named range in Excel 2007 work from any
external location. When selecting a link to a named range from Internet Explorer, or by UNC path in our Wiki, the Excel 2007 workbook opens to the last cell selected when the file was saved and closed. I have been scouring the web for this issue and have not found any information on it. The same workbook in Excel 2003 works fine, all links from outside will connect to the appropriate named range. I have "heard" that this is what some might call a "known issue". Is this so, or am I clearly not doing something correctly. Try this in Excel 2007: Open a workbook, pick a sheet. On that sheet, select a cell and give it a name using the Name Box. Save the workbook as an *.xlsx file, but from A DIFFERENT CELL on a DIFFERENT WORKSHEET. Now, generate a link to the named range using the browser of your choice. Watch where the workbook opens from. Example: Workbook.xlsx has a named range €śnamedrange€ť on sheet 2, cell B4. Save workbook.xlsx with cell A1 on sheet 1 selected then try to open it from a browser. http://servername/workbook.xlsx#namerange This will open the workbook to€¦€¦Cell A1 on sheet 1, not your named range! I have tried this declaring sheet names instead of named ranges in my path and there is no difference. Any ideas? Thanks! |
