Default Why is my Excel 2002 slow to enter cell?

In my use of Excel 2002 workbook, I am having problem of a delay pause of
approximately two (2) seconds after entering with a key and the 'ready'
signal in the bar below, the exactual or executed entering of a cell.

Delays are happening to all types of entering, whether after pasteing, color
back-ground, numbers, text, and functions and all the time. I know in
entering in Excel the entering time after executing with the enter key there
should be an instant in time without this time delay.

What is my problem with my Dell '8300' computer with the already installed
from Dell Office XP Professional software?
