Default How do you get the function of a pivot column to not appear

In the pivot tables, when you do a sum function, you end up with a column
heading ie. Sum of Volume. I know you can rename these heading, but when you
apply an auto format it gets rid of all of them. Is it possible to change a
setting and have this happen to your pivot without renaming or auto formating?
