Default how to retrieve information that was saved on a floppy disk?

i saved information on a floppy disk 1.44 mb that was already formatted and
had information on it previosly. when i tried to open the floppy disk the
computer was telling to formatt my disk.where did all my information go? can
i get it back?

Did you try to open it on the same computer, or a different one?
Sometimes files written to a floppy disk by one drive will be
unreadable on another.

Try drives on different computers if you can. If you can access the
disk, save the file to the hard drive and try using another (preferably
new) floppy, or perhaps email the file to yourself.

It's also possible that the disk has plain gone bad. Floppies are like
that.
