Hello experts,
I have a pivot table and whenever I drag and drop in to the Data portion of it, the pivot is always putting numbers in as "count" and I am always having to change it manually to "Sum". Is there a way to change the default way that a pivot handles info dropped into the data box. I'd like the default to "Sum" data as opposed to "Count" it. Thanks in advance, Scott |

You can't change the default settings for the data fields. If a field
contains blank cells, or cells with text, it will default to COUNT. Otherwise, it will SUM. There's a feature that changes all the data fields to SUM, in my pivot table add-in, that you can download he http://www.contextures.com/xlPivotAddIn.html Scott wrote: Hello experts, I have a pivot table and whenever I drag and drop in to the Data portion of it, the pivot is always putting numbers in as "count" and I am always having to change it manually to "Sum".
