I have a similar problem. We have a procedure which opens a (multiple sheet)
Excel workbook, then open a Word document with links to the workbook. We rename the Excel file (also into a different directory) and the links in the Word file automatically update to the new path. This works perfectly with Office 95 but when using Office 2003, ONLY THE CURRENT (displayed) SHEET of the Excel workbook is updated (path & filename) in the Word links - all the other sheets still point towards the old path. "tim" wrote: Dave, Thanks for the suggestion, this had no apparent effect. The issue(s) is still not resolved. Tim "Dave Peterson" wrote: This is a guess (I don't use xl2003 and I don't have a network to try it on.) Try tools|options|General Tab|Web options button|Files tab Uncheck "update links on save" Can you post back with the results of your testing? tim wrote: Hi, I recently migrated to 2003 and when using a file created in 2002 the links do not update when the Source file is open. First, I opent the destination workbook, choose not to update links, open the source workbook and make changes. The changes are not updated in the destination workbook. If I edit the equation in the destination workbook by deleting the path ('\\server\folder\[filename]sheet'!cellref) up to the filename of the source, then the values update. Once I close the source, the equation in the destination changes to a mapped drive type path ('S:\folder\[filename]sheet'!cellref). Why are the links not updating when the source is open, and why is the path changing from \\server style to mapped drive style? -- Dave Peterson |
