I am trying to link cells in 2 workbooks and have done this many times
before, but when linking the cells in 1 specific workbook to another workbook, the cells are showing the formula for the link (ie =[....]Test!A1) and not the contents of the linked cell which normally happens - tried Office Online Help and can't locate anything - please help - I am using Excel 2003. -- Thanks, Kev G |

First format the cell(s) as general, and try reinserting the formula. Your
cells are simply formatted as text. ************ Hope it helps! Anne Troy www.OfficeArticles.com Check out the NEWsgroup stats! Thanks for the response. Have tried that - still does not solve the problem.
When the link is first created it shows the correct information, but as soon as I remove the $ sign so I can drag the formula down to other cells it reverts to just showing the link/formula and not the contents of the source cell. -- Thanks, Kev G "Anne Troy" wrote: First format the cell(s) as general, and try reinserting the formula. If you have actually followed Anne's advice without success, then your
problem is a perplexing one. A workaround - albeit a perhaps unsatisfactory one - would be to select and copy all the cells you want to reference and then do a paste-link in the workbook that is giving you problems "Kev G" wrote: Thanks for the response.
