Default Please Reply! I Need A Simple Formula


im trying to calculate stock returns. i need to apply a formula to a
whole column and i dont know how. A1-A2/A2. but how to i do that for
the whole colum? A2-A3/A3, A3-A4/A4..etc. please help

Your formula is rather confusing. A2-A3/A3?? (A number
divided by itself will always equal 1)

So you could replace it with

A2-1
A3-1
A4-1

Remember divides and multiplys occur before pluses and
minues, so unless you meant (A2-A3)/A3...

Hi,
Assuming that you want (a1-a2)/a2,(a2-a3)/a3,... in Column, say C
(C1,C2,C3.....)
Then,in C1 put the formula as
=(a1-a2)/a2
Then select C1 and drag from C1 downwards to C2,c3,....(or copy from C1 to
C2,C3 ....)
