Default Problems shading a cell!

Hello,

In the main view of this computer (Sony Vaio) in Excel I try to shade a
highlighted cell, easy enough function to do, however as you look at
Excel it doesn't show the highlight you have just done! It does
however show the highlight if the document is printed off.

Can anyone help me to get it resolved? It happens on all documents,
new and old.

We transferred all the documents over from a previous computer - where
we were able to see the shading, but now on this new computer we cannot
see that shading until it's printed. Likewise, when opening up a new
document, we can shade a cell, or series of cells, but cannot see it
till the document is printed off?!?!

Thank youfor your help in advance!
Jeni
