I have one workbook (inventory workbook sheet1) that pulls the information off of another workbook (data workbook sheet 1). If I try to insert a new row in the middle of the data workbook, let's say A10, the formula on the inventory workbook that pulls the data over is now skipping over A9. I have tried just using = and indexing to pull the data. Is there anything that will update the inventory sheet without skip a row? I hope this is a new question and makes sense.

If your data on both sheets aligns row/col wise then that would be the
ref for the location of the data you want to retrieve.

You can also use INDEX() to ref a specific cell in a range.

Example:

Formula in sheet2!A1:H10 to retrieve data from the same location on
sheet1...

=INDEX(Sheet1!A1:H10,ROW(),COLUMN())

...will pull the values for the matching row/col of each cell. Notice
that there's no direct refs since each cell refs its respective row/col
in the specified range.

If the source data range was different row/col wise then the ref is to
the row/col of the specified range...

=INDEX(Sheet1!A11:H20,ROW(),COLUMN())

...refs the same position in the specified range. So.., in this 2nd
example, sheet2!A1 receives the value in sheet1!A11 because the row/col
of the cell using the formula is 1/1, and so refs row1/col1 of the
specified range.
