Default conditional copying of sheets

I would like to create a file (e.g. a football player's work-out plan) which
extracts a chosen sheet from a number of different spread sheet files
(different work-out plans) depending on an overall plan (the coaches training
overview) which dictates the sheet at a particular point in time.

For example...The coach writes an overview of a teams training based on
work-outs which have already been written by the coach. Each player has a
file which updates itself according to the workout prescribed at the current
time.

I have tried to create conditional equations in the athlete's individual
file which reference to the coaches overall plan but I have been unable to
change a whole sheet to a certain work out sheet (just a single cell). I
would also like the equation to reference the chronologically relevant part
of the coaches overall plan...which so far has been unsuccessful.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated
