Default Formula preceded by + sign

I have to understand and maintain a spreadsheet with existing formulas. There
is one type of entry/notation, which is new to me the formula contains a
+-sign as follows:
=+G15*1.05
Can anybody tell me what the efect and/or significance of the "+"-sign is?
Many thanks,
Roland

It's redundant and generally a hangover from when someone used to use Lotus
123. In Lotus you used to enter data as just +A1 and can do the same in
Excel, but Excel will make it =+A1. You can just delete them and not worry,
or leave them and not worry.

It's a holdover from Lotus notation and is completely meaningless in
Excel.
