I am running Office 2003, but I have been sent pivot tables created by a
colleague in Excel 2007. The workbook is being saved as an *.xls, but when I try to click on the column headers in the pivot table, I get an error saying "this Pivot Table Report is not Valid". Does anyone have any suggestions how to address this issue? |

This is based on a faulty memory, so you'll have to test it.
I _think_ you'll want to save the workbook as 97-2003 version before you build the pivottable. Then (reopen???) and build the pivottable. The user who gave you rht document had to see this message when they saved:
"A PivotTable in this workbook will not work in versions prior to Excel 2007. Only PivotTables that are created in Compatibility Mode will work in earlier versions of Excel" In other words, it must be created in 2007 "compatibility mode", or it can't be used in 2003. Saving as xls doesn't work here. Go back to the source of the PT person & have them redo it (in 2003, if possible). Lastly, you may have to recreated it from within 2003 using the source data. there are two options 1. ask you colleague to creat a pivot table in excel 2003 and give it to you. 2. yourself create similar pivot table in excel 2003 version by copying the data
