Default where is tthe "read only" TOGGLE button ?

HI i often open a file and leave open as a read only file , and whenever i
edit a cell , i click on the "read only " toggle button then key in the
password and then save the file , then click on "read only" again and the
file is read only again, i dont have to close and reopen the file to make
changes to any cell, so how to do this with Excel 2007 ?
appreciate a lot to all who answered ,
thank you
