Default Autofilter unavailable

The Autofilter option is not available in the sheet I am working in. It is
grayed out. The file is not protected. Any ideas? (I'm using 2003)

You say the file is not protected but could be the worksheet is protected.

Is ToolsProtectionUnprotect Sheet available?

If not sheet protection...................

Anything else grayed out?

If you have more than one sheet selected lots of functions will be grayed
out...........AF among them.
