When linking cells from spreadsheets together how do you bring the formatting
of those cells across to the linked spreadsheets. For example how would you
bring the fill color across to all the linked cells?

Linking formulas return values only.

If the fill color of source cells is due to Conditional Formatting you can
set the the CF conditions on the Destination cells.
