Default activate cell

Hello Everyone - need help

Please suggest a excel formula

cell a1 is blank while cell a2 has a pulldown menu containing list of months
when i enter a figure in cell a1 I require cell a2 to be active with the
pull down menu and should prompt to pick up the month from the ajoing cell

One simple way for the alert which might suffice
In B2: =IF(ISNUMBER(A1),"< Select month in A2","")
Format B2 in bold red font
