Default Solver installes itself a second time :S

Dear All,

I noticed something strange.
When I first enabled the addin "Solver" in Excel 2007, the icon appeared
once in the 'data' tab.
And solver worked fine.
If I now close Excel and restart again. The Solver icon appears double, and
than it says that the solver32.dll is missing.

The only way to solve this issue is to dissable the addin again, restart
Excel and start from the beginning. :S
What I was thinking.. Is it possible to save parts of Solver in an Excel
sheet?
Because we're using an existing excel 2003 template which solver needs to
run on.
If so, than maybe that's what's causing the issue..

Does anybody have experiance with this kind of issue?
Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Well it sounds like this is a version problem. When you are in 2003 and you
install solver if you check the checkbox Excel uses the solver that came
along with 2003. When you are in 2007 it installs the 2007 copy of solver.
These two files are in different locations. If you want to run from one copy
of solver that is not the default you should choose the Browse button in the
Add-ins dialog box and find the other copy.

Hi Shane,

Thanks for your update, at first I thought you were right, but unfortunately
it didn't resolve the issue.
I've removed all solver*.* files that where found on the machine and
re-installed solver. But still, if I open Excel for a second time, a second
icon of Solver appears. I have no clue where it's comming from.

Kind regards,
Erwin Pauwels
