Default Count if a=b

How do I do a function that says if A=B put 1 (if there are 2 in a column put
2 and so on).

I have a worksheet that I am trying to compare to another worksheet. If the
same support group name is used on worksheet 1 then total on worksheet 2.
There are 326 support groups that could have more than one entry on worksheet
2 or potential could have 0. Can ya help this southern girl out?

Default Count if a=b

Assuming that you have a list of support groups in column A of worksheet 1.
Assuming that you have a list of events for all support groups with the
support group name in column A of worksheet 2 and that there would likely be
multiple occurances if each support group in this column.

Put this formula in cell B2 of worksheet 1 next to the support group list:

=COUNTIF(Sheet2!A:A,Sheet1!A2)

Then you can copy the formula down to the end of your list.
