Default paste link malfunction

i have an xlt. which is a "new customer" model and every new customer's .xls
that is created, is saved in the "customers" folder. Every "customer.xls" has
a function which every month( the first day of every month) adds the money
that he owes to his total debt. Every "total debt" of every customer gets a
"paste link" to the "general.xls" . When September came the links on the
"general.xls" were automatically updated, without opening every
"customer.xls" one by one, but when October came the links did not update by
opening the "general.xls" , they only did update when i opened every
"customer.xls". I tried Edit- Links- check links and the result was that
the links were ok , is there any other way to fix these links?
