Default Vlookp-matching names between sheets

I am new to vlookup. i have figured out the argument, but want to enter part
of a name or an incomplete name and have vlookup find the name in the other
sheet. i tried match but it finds the first similar one. i want to be able to
enter enough unique characters but not the whole name.

also, i want to be able to have vlookup seach sheets within a file. is this
possible?

Thanks!

Karen, there's a discussion about using wildcards in vlookups. Hope
it helps.

Pierre-
THat is awesome! It works like a champ. THanks much!

How about searching through an entire workbook and not the sheet?
