Default HOW TO CREATE AN ARCHITECTURAL NUMBER FORMAT

how do I create an architectural number format?

as in 7'-2", 16'-0", 1'-0 1/2"

and be able to add them up. right now they all show up as text.

Why not use 7 4/12
Just use custom format: # ??/12
