I have been trying to enter 01-63 as an exaple and it always changes it into
a date like jan-63. I have tried everything i can think of to fix it. Any
suggestions please let me know

formatt the cells (or columns) you will be entering the data into as 'text'
before you start entering data.

Enter it with an apostrophe in front, i.e.

'01-63

and Excel will take this as a text value (the apostrophe will not show
in the cell).

Alternatively, pre-format the cell as Text beforehand, and then you
can enter it as 01-63.

Hope this helps.

Two choices:
Either precede your entry with an apostrophe '. The apostrophe will
not show in the cell, only the formula bar.
Or give the cell the number format of Text
