Some great resources he
http://www.contextures.com/xlPivot02.html http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Pivots/pivottables.htm This speaks specifically to your issue: http://blogs.msdn.com/excel/archive/...20/506172.aspx Keep at it! I'll bet anything it can be done! You make a few mistakes along the way, but you will learn a lot in the process!! You should be able to select a cell in the Aug-07 column and click the
A-Z button on the toolbar. That would sort the table by the values in that column However, you can't sort just the values in that column, without affecting the other columns. Worked perfectly. But only on that one chunk of information. How do automate
to do this all throuhout the entire column and pivot table? Carolina "Debra Dalgleish" wrote: You should be able to select a cell in the Aug-07 column and click the A-Z button on the toolbar. The link http://blogs.msdn.com/excel/archive/...20/506172.aspx addresses
the inmediate concern...thanks! Yet I am curious about what is says about the "PivotTable AutoSort functionality"...how do I know if I have it? I don't know where to look for it. I want it to auto sort the entire column on that pivot table not just that one chuck of information. I have different type of trends and if I have to sort manually every section if can become tedious. Can you give me additional insight into this? Thanks for your time! If you're using Excel 2003, when you sort one chunk, all the other
chunks are sorted in the same order. So, if CCC is the highest amount under # of Calls, it will appear first in all the other categories, even if it's the lowest amount in that category. This is changed in Excel 2007, and the values sort as expected in all chunks. Carolina wrote: Worked perfectly. But only on that one chunk of information. I see what you said about the 2003 version. It happened the way you described
it. If I understand correctly the 2007 will sort all chunks at the SAME time (in descending order if that is what I selected) but each chuck INDEPENDENTLY from the other chucks? I am trying to see if I should get the 2007 version for this reason. It boils down to: I have 8 different chunks of information. But each chunk has to be sorted in descending order. They will all vary according to the data. Can this be done with the 2007 version? Have a wonderful day and once again, thank you for your time. Yes, you can see an example in the blog article link that ryguy7272 posted:
http://blogs.msdn.com/excel/archive/...20/506172.aspx You may be able to download a trial version of Excel 2007 from the Microsoft web site, and test it for yourself. http://us20.trymicrosoftoffice.com/default.aspx Carolina wrote: I see what you said about the 2003 version. Thanks Debra! I am now requesting my IT dept to get me the 2007 version since
they have it available. You were right...the information was on ryguy's link...now that I read it carefully I understand it! Thanks for your time!
