Default Macros help

I accidentally hit disable on my workbook then closed. Now when I try to open
my workbook (that now has a xlms extention) I get This file is not a
recognizable format, how do I get my work back to where it was?

Do you mean xlsm? You can't just rename the file .xlsm from .xlsx,
you must save it as a macro-enabled workbook. If this is what you
did, change the extension back and you'll be able to open the file -
but you won't be able to recover your macros.

I have no idea how it happened but I was told to down load a convertor for
excel (2007 convertor) and then open. It worked, and I don't understand since
I built it in 2003. I guess since I got it to work I shouldn't complain. But
it still puzzles me how this happened. Thanks for the help.
