Default Insert Properties

Is there a way to change the properties of an inserted row, column, or cell?
For instance;

Certain cells are highlighted a certain color. I then perform a subtotal
(datasubtotals). New rows are now inserted based on my subtotal criteria.
I don't want the inserted rows to take on the color of the surround rows.

Thanks in advance!
