For some reason I had had a default in the File Import Wizard of using the
Tab as the delimiter. Worked perfectly first time every time for the files. For some reason today, Excel is now defaulting to Other with the "=" as the delimiter. How can I reset the default delimiter to "Tab"? |

Excel likes to help by remembering the choices you've made on that dialog.
One way to make excel forget is to close excel and reopen it. Another way is to run data|text to columns and specify the settings you like. These new settings will be remembered until you either close excel or change them. If you don't think you ran data|text to columns, maybe you had a macro that ran that changed the settings???? Your solution solved the problem. I opened the file, corrected the settings
on the import, finished the import, save the file, closed Excel. Reopen Excel, import the file, Voila! - the file imports as expected. Thanks for your help.
