Default Vlookup DETAILED directions

At work, I have been told to do a vlookp using two workbooks. The
information I am comparing are serial numbers. I need to find serial
numbers that are the same on both workbooks. I really don't know
exactily what vlookup is except that its can compare information one
to the other.

I have looked online for DETAILES step-by-step instructions, but have
not found any yet. If there is one available online, please let me
know.

If someone knows vlookup very well, I would appreciate an explation of
exactly what I need to do.

Me and my job will thank you very much!!
